What ProConnect Power Tools stores

ProConnect Power Tools keeps, in your browser on your computer: the checkmarks and flags you put on a return (the tax year, the client name ProConnect shows, the form, record and box, and a short fingerprint of the amount that can tell it changed but can't be turned back into it; for a Social Security number, EIN, account number or date of birth, no fingerprint at all; and, for a checkmark you make while signed in, your name), and your settings (appearance, highlight choices, your initials).

Your ProConnect Power Tools account

Stay signed in is free, and needs you to sign in; Sync is a Pro feature and needs you to sign in too: with Google, Microsoft, your firm's single sign-on, or a code we email you. Signing in gives us your name and email address and how you signed in (and a profile picture, if you add one), and while you're signed in we note when you switch Sync or Stay signed in on or off. That is all your account holds.

Change your name, email, picture and ways to sign in, or sign out of every computer, on your account page (All settings → your name → Manage account). To delete the account, email us.

If you buy Pro, you pay on Stripe's own page: Stripe holds your card, and we receive only whether your subscription is active, monthly or yearly, and when it renews or ends.

What leaves your computer

Your checkmarks and flags stay on your computer unless you have Pro. If you have Pro, sign in and switch on "Sync verifications across computers" (it is off by default), and your checkmarks, flags (with who flagged them and when, and the comment if you wrote one: a reason and a short note), the Tax Returns list's counts and your settings are encrypted and stored for you on Azuma, so every computer you sign in on sees them. Azuma holds the key (nothing is copied by hand, and nothing rides on Chrome sync); it is used for syncing and not to look at your data.

What we never do

We never receive amounts, Social Security numbers or documents from a return, and we don't sell or share anything. If you turn Sync on, the client names and box labels your checkmarks and flags are filed under, and any flag comments you write, are stored on Azuma too, encrypted with a key Azuma holds.

ProConnect Power Tools has no analytics, no tracking and no advertising; the account above is the only thing we keep.

Deleting your data

Remove a checkmark or flag to delete it. Uninstalling ProConnect Power Tools deletes everything it stored on your computer. Switching sync off stops syncing. To delete what's stored on Azuma, email us.

Changes

If this changes, we'll update this page and the date above before the new version ships.
